4 days dry fasting, then 3 days rest light eating and drinking, rinse and repeat

So on May 19th I decided to start a dry fast for the weekend that actually lasted for 4 days ending on the 23rd, resulting in me losing nearly 10 pounds.

I then started to eat and drink lightly over the course of 3 days:

24th: 1, 1.5 liters (50. Oz) bottle of water, one bottle of Gatorade, and sushi (rainbow roll; various raw fish).

25th: 1 bottle of water (same as above), one bottle of Gatorade, and light pasta; small bowl of ziti with red sauce and some parm cheese.

26th: 1 bottle of water (same as above), one bottle of Gatorade, and a small burger with fries and a soda; had a milkshake for dessert.

Now after all of that I gained back 3 pounds and my urine was nearly clear. So far I had no stomach issues and had to sit on the toilet on two occasions without any issues, be it with how I felt or how I used the toilet.

Yet now because I am having a very long weekend, I wanted to see if maybe I could surprise myself and go beyond 4 days; at the time of this writing right before I sleep, I am actually well into my 3rd day of dry fasting and will finish this 3rd “day” by tomorrow afternoon.

Considering how I seemingly don’t have any issues and I somehow still have no urge to eat or drink as much as I normally do during my dry fasts (before what I recently started doing this month), maybe I should repeat this cycle for a while?

How long between dry fasts is recommended in order to keep the body stable? As I said I haven’t felt any bad effects and seemingly 4 days isn’t as hard as before while I was fasting occasionally since 2018. It’s actually surprising that maybe my endurance and mental strength has growth to it’s new limits.

I am considering going beyond 4 days to see how long I can go but maybe 4 days dry fasting and 3 days of resting with light eating is better and safer?

Answer

There is a ton of carbs and starch in most of the food you mentioned. Could be valuable to consider especially if you are doing the fasts to lose weight, not only nutrition-wise but also since it´s very cravings-creating food and is more likely to make your blood sugar go yo-yo than food that is more based on protein (and/or fat).

Dunno about you but that´s the kinda diet that would make my weight go up even more after I stop the fasting but am used to eat cr*p when not fasting.
