Are sprouted oats more nutritional than regular, large flaked oats?

I bought a bag of organic, sprouted oats from Costco. What effect does the sprouting have on the nutritional quality of the oats? I just wonder if this is a product I should continue to seek out or if I am just as well getting regular large, flaked oats.

Answer

Sprouting changes the composition of the seed. Generally reduces the amount of starch, eliminates phytic acid which makes the micro nutrients such as iron, magnesium, etc more easily absorbed by your body.

I don’t know about the macros, like whether it changes the calorie content.

Answer

Weston a price foundation recommends soaking oats for 8 hours in water with a splash of apple cider vinegar before cooking them.

I buy the same oats you use. I soak them on the counter the night before and they come out great
