Attempting 20:4 IF and eating late at night

Hi everyone, Im male, 30, Im having health issues (type 2 diabetes) and was planning to start intermittent fasting, skipping breakfast and lunch as they are easier for me to do. Would eating late at night within 4 hour window have any negative effects? By late at night I mean eating between 18:00 - 22:00. I have heard a lot about not eating late at night but I get hungry towards end of the day and its very difficult for me to control it. Was wondering if anyone had success loosing weight while eating late night meals.

Answer

Ya I wouldn’t start with 20:4. First day or two isn’t bad but by the third and forth day your trying to figure out how to add sugar to air and thinking your steering wheel might not taste too bad with some hot sauce.

Same. I only ever eat late at night though I’m more 2200- midnight or later. I’m too busy during the day and then something about cooking for my family makes me not hungry anymore. I eat once everyone else is sleeping and I can relax. Commenting so I can come back to see other responses.

Not an expert just sharing things I’ve read and heard from guys like Dr Fung and Ben bikman (many others as well but those are my go to).

It won’t make a big difference for the weight loss. Things to be really aware of are refined carbs and cico still. By the time you’re eating you’re fully in fat burning mode and if you have heavy refined carbs before bed you will not be in fat burning mode overnight at all. Potato or rice won’t hurt you like sugar will do keep that in mind.

With t2d you want to limit insulin spikes, you have too much already. More fat and protein and less carbs will help you see results faster but if you stick to 20/4 you’ll be fine with natural carbs. The biggest thing is its harder to sleep after a big meal so try to get it in early if you can but at the end of the day, it’s always about consistency. Good luck!
