"Benefits" of breakfast?

I know many people who eat breakfast and eat several meals during the day because “it’s time to have breakfast” or because two or three hours have passed between each meal; but nevertheless they eat without being hungry. This seems really ridiculous and nonsense to me; Is there any proven scientific reason that supports these behaviors? Knowing that breakfast is neither the most important meal nor is it essential, does eating breakfast have any benefits besides helping with the daily intake of vitamins, minerals, fiber, protein and fat?

I imagine it depends on the individual. I eat breakfast about 2 hours after I get up to avoid nausea. I need to eat small amounts through the day or I don’t feel well. Not a scientific approach, I admit, but something I figured out over time.

It depends on your goals and lifestyle.

For general health, you’ll feel better having some food and nutrients in you after sleeping for 9 hours.

If you skip breakfast, and instead eat a larger lunch or dinner, you may spike blood sugar larger than if you had a smaller meal.

With that said, some people feel better on intermittent fasting.

Nope. Thats why intermittent fasting works. We were more like animals. Hunting when lean and hungry. Then eating one big meal and sleeping.

It does start metabolism though and body clock. I love food but often think humans are so odd having to eat constantly in the day as it would have been so impractical 10,000 years back

Insulin spikes arent good for fat storage either ao. Mah.

Break your fast later and just fast longer in my book.

Early time-restricted eating proves more beneficial for weight loss and metabolic biomarkers. Insulin sensitivity and diet-induced-thermogenesis is greater in the morning and wanes considerably toward the end of the day.

Whatever your preference though, rule of thumb is either skip breakfast or supper.

I eat a large protein dense breakfast and mid morning snack. If I don’t have multiple meals it is hard for me to reach my daily protein intake I try to maintain. I feel it also helps me avoid that midday crash and have enough energy to workout after I get off work from a 8-9 hour shift.

Only one I can think of is eating it even when you’re not hungry to give you energy to burn later in the day if you’re active or something otherwise you’ll have an energy crash. Some people in thread saying they have certain negative symptoms from skipping it or going too long without eating.

This has happened with me before. I eat too little or more-so usually nothing at all at the beginning of the day or nothing at all then I’m active later and I wind up having a bad crash or can’t really perform effectively, even though I’m not a breakfast person and never have been, so I kind of have to on rare occasions. But that’s about normal.

But no I don’t think there’s anything supporting it, as far as I know more, and often a bunch of at that, benefits come from the opposite of that behavior. But if anyone knows anything showing benefits of that habit tell me because I’m curious.

Recently I started eating breakfast to incorporate more dietary iron. I have found it somehow reduces my total calorie intake for the day where it seems I’m just not as hungry for the later two meals as a result. I guess kinda like the whole “drink before your thirsty” thing except eat before you’re hungry in my case, and I’ve found that I stick to my diet plan better as a result.
