Edit: just bought “Naked Egg” from Naked Nutrition. I know it isn’t whey but didn’t think I’d be able to get a solid protein that wasn’t whey. Gonna give this a shot. Thanks for the recommendations!
Protein powders tend to be loaded with junk. I’ve read a bunch of blogs and articles about “clean whey” but it’s so hard to tell what’s swayed by sponsoring. Anyone have a good (or bad) experience with whey protein that doesn’t have any artificial sweeteners? Would love some additional insights on texture and taste.
I know it’s not whey protien, but if you want like a solid source of protein without additives, cricket flour is always reliable and has 2-3 times the amount of protein of a beef steak of same weight value (when hydrated of course). I know it’s off topic, but I’d suggest that for a more pure source of protein.
Naked Whey protein is my favourite. It’s not flavoured & doesn’t taste the greatest. I’m also not drinking it for the taste. “100% whey from grass fed, California cows”. You can do some research if you feel inclined.
So overall Muscle Feast has a version with all isolate, meaning it will have less lactose than something like the Naked with all concentrate. No idea if they also have another version. Amazon reviewers are starting to get pissed at Muscle Feast though. The stevia they are using has caused many to stop drinking it.
Maybe the best shot if you have stomach issues is some sort of isolate drink but like Naked. But they are gross IMHO. Not that that matters, but they are also double the price of ON, and double chocolate is too good for me to pass up for the price.
The price of all these grass-fed products has risen dramatically in the last couple years. Myprotein is another I have not tried that some say is a better price.
For meal replacement I do love Garden of Life chocolate.
You could take a look at Buff Chick Supplements’ protein isolate! Its literally JUST a protein powder, no carbs or fat. I think that Red Con makes an isolate as well. If you’re looking for a cheaper option, bodybuilding.com surely has some
I started to use unflavored protein powder because I was tired of the artificial sweetener taste, and all of the natural flavored ones use stevia which I react pretty bad too
Not sure why there is recent hype around stevia..
So I just flavor it myself using some granulated sugar and fruit
