Bjj on extended fasts (7+ days)

Would doing jiu jitsu on a fast longer than 7 days be feasible with snake juice?

Answer

I was on a two week fast and was having really good movement based and calisthenics type conditioning workouts. No heavy loading. And so I broke my fast and sort of stopped making sure I was getting my electrolytes in and decided that I would workout BJJ and did an hour of drills followed by an hour of sparring. Amazing workout but I hit a wall in the last thirty minutes turned pale vomited on the way home

Depends on how hard you go during training, how often you train, how long you train, etc.

For example, if I’m fasting 24-48 hours, then one 1-hour BJJ training session is not an issue for me. But if I do more than one 1-hour, then I feel wiped out.

I did a 120h fast with workouts+bjj a while ago (https://www.reddit.com/r/fasting/comments/lthm9h/completed_120h_fast_with_exercise_workouts_bjj/). I crashed pretty hard at the end.

Definitely possible but your success depends on your size (need to have enough fat), skill level, how often/hard you train and your fasting history.

I had enough fat, my skill level isn’t that high and I definitely went too hard. :D

Answer

The longest I’ve gone fasting + still rolling was 5 days.

Days 1-3 were great, felt no decrease in performance (probably improved performance, tbh). After 72 hours, though, I couldn’t keep up during harder rolls. Days 4 & 5 rolling turned more into something like easy flow rolls. I haven’t gone longer than 5, so I can’t speak to that.
