Hey Everyone,
After reading a lot of research about how much egg white protein is absorbed as raw liquid compared to cooked, and with cooked egg whites having a much higher absorption percent, I decided to go with the cooked route. I wanted to try and eat a set amount of egg whites (8-10 oz.) and one whole egg every morning if possible.
Now, eating 8-10 oz. of egg whites every single day isn’t on everyone’s bucket list, so it became old fast. The liquid doesn’t look like much but becomes a lot when it’s cooked!
So, I brainstormed on how to eat 10 oz. of egg whites and a whole egg day in and day out easier. My solution that I arrived at was blending up the egg whites AFTER they’re cooked. This way, you still absorb the most protein out of them, and it’s easy to get all the eggs down. What I do: Cook the egg whites, put around 90% of them in the freezer for around 10-15 minutes to cool, blend them up with cold water (and a splash of water flavoring) to your desired consistency, and chug it down. It’s not the best tasting drink of all time, but it’s very doable. The reason I only take 90% is because I do like eating something to help the hunger.
TL:DR, if you hate eating a ton of egg whites every day, blending them up with water after cooking them will make it easy to consume while still getting the protein absorption we want.
For various reasons, people who have an incipient interest in their health and Nutrition often worry too much about one thing being more absorbable than another, even to the point of making weird chages to their diet. When most of the times that difference in absorption rates is irrelevant, doesn’t matter wether A is more absorbable than B, when B is absorbable enough to easily satisfy your requirements.
When it comes to protein, this is even more unnecessary, you won’t have a protein defficiency no matter how you eat your eggs. And making protein more absorbable doesn’t offer any benefit to your metabolism or heath. There’s no point in eating that much egg whites, you say you’re not even enjoying it, and for that reason as well as others that are important too, this dietary pattern goes against the basic principles of a healthy diet.
Eating raw egg tho is not recommended for various reasons. Avidin, salmonella.
