Carb breakfast or no breakfast

So I know there are negatives to both sides, being that having a breakfast mostly of carbs lacks other macros as well as carbs making one sleepier, but I know skipping breakfast in its entirety can cause a whole slew of other problems.

Question is, if it came down to a one or the other, would it be better to have a carb-ful breakfast (only a toasted bread or some cereal) or to just skip breakfast entirely?

Answer

It depends on the person. For myself, skipping breakfast would be an absolute disaster. My appetite is high in the mornings and I usually wake up very hungry. I also usually train in the morning so high carb is ideal. I think if I skipped breakfast I would risk passing out lol. But for someone like my mom, skipping breakfast works better for her because her appetite is low in the morning. She’s not very active so having available carbs, while important, isn’t necessary first thing.

Answer

If it’s complete carbs with decent fiber content you won’t have a crash, fiber slows down the digestion of carbs so glucose levels are smoother and you will feel fuller for longer.

I like yogurt and granola for breakfast, super quick and keeps me going until lunch.

Answer

I skip breakfast all the time. I think you’ll be fine without the carbs.

You know the phrase “breakfast is the most important meal of the day?” That was invented by a guy named “Kellogg” that he used to turn a profit for his brand new cereal company.

Answer

i have oatmeal with protein powder most mornings and I dont get very sleepy. I really feel like it’s going to entirely depend on your day, job, and needs. I get stressed at work if I dont eat breakfast so Im all in. Some people like one meal a day. Some people I know graze and are plenty happy about it

Answer

Personally I prefer to have more of my carbohydrates early in the day and increase my protein (while decreasing carbs) as the day progresses. Provides the energy needed during early to mid day and enough energy to workout for 90-120 mins early evening. I usually cut my carbs or keep them very very low relative to my protein for my last two meals (typically my last - 5th meal - of the day) is carb free or extremely low (e.g. I may add arugula or lettuce with my proteins during my last meal of the day).

Hopefully your breakfast is more than just toast or cereal. To each his own but that would not sustain me at all.
