How much omega 3 does someone get after consuming 100 grams of chia seeds since apparently its converted?
Conversion of ALA is extremely poor, in terms of my own diet I just don’t count it at all. I’m not saying ignore ALA entirely as it is still less inflammatory than 6, but it seems to have little benefit in the grand scheme of things.
Chia seeds provide a short chain omega 3, ALA. This is one of the two essential fatty acids for humans, the other being omega 6 LA.
Some people will suggest people intake the long chain omega 3 like EPA and DHA. This is the stuff found in fish oil and algae oil supplements. EPA can help lower serum triglycerides if people are found to be high in that. Other than that, I don’t see much of a benefit.
