Day 3 of 7

Hi! I’m on day 3 of my first 7 day fast, I plan to do one feeding day every 7 days to reach my goal and then continue my keto diet to maintain

I am F, 23 yrs, 5’7, SW 176, CW 174, GW 140

I have fibromyalgia (main side effect being obesity) and am fasting to help with managing my weight, lowering inflammation to help with my pain and to help with my depression.

So far depression wise, I am more energetic and doing better already.

Pain wise no big change, but no flare ups

I’m surprised I have not lost more weight these first 3 days as others have talked about how quickly water weight comes off, and in my other 2,3,4 day fasts I lost 5-8 lbs in the first like 2 days…

Anyone have an idea why the water weight isn’t really coming off?

How long would be expected to reach my goal weight based on others experiences?

Answer

Hi,

We are in a very similar situation! I am on day three of a (hopefully) 21 day fast, but after that I plan to do rolling 7 days until I hit my goal. My goal is 125. I am currently at 175 at 5’5” F.

I have done multiple fasts from 3-10 days. In all my other fasts I have lost weight quickly the first few days, but this time I have only lost a couple pounds so far. I have not been hydrating enough I don’t think. I usually drink a lot more water, and I read that taking sodium while not drinking enough water can make you retain it.

I think a reasonable expectation is averaging about a pound a day weight loss, and taking into consideration when you start eating normally again gaining back a few pounds. I am not as well versed in long term fasting, though. I know I have ranged from day to day losing nothing to about three pounds max. I think it depends on the person.

Happy to be your fasting friend along the way!
