Do electrolytes break autophagy?

Hello everyone! I am gonna ask a maybe silly question which has probably been asked million times but I still didn’t find a clear answer so I wanna hear your opinion of you guys, directly. I plan on an extended water fast (15 days) mainly for autophagy, to check if it can reset some problems I have like a lot of people have witnessed. The longest I had ever fasted is 10 days, just water, no electrolytes, and I got to a point I had no energy for doing anything at all, so I had to break it. I had done lots of mini fasts after (2-3 days) to control my bodyweight. I fully understand electrolytes will help a lot with the energy, muscle cramps etc, and they do not break the fast. the question is will electrolytes break the autophagy? Most people I had noticed say they don’t but I still see some saying they do break it… So I am not sure :/

Thank you guys in advance and wish you all good health and happy fasting!

Answer

electrolytes will not stop autophagy but I would be wary of commercial products sold as electrolyte drinks and stick to simply taking the minerals or supplements. On my longer fasts (I’ve never fasted more than 8 days) I take morning supplements and then just take a pinch of regular salt washed down with water if I start feeling a little slow.
