Do youtubers lie about their weight loss?

Almost every YouTube video I’ve seen about fasting has people losing 1kg per day. A guy even lost 15kg in 10 days by water fasting and exercising. I was wondering if these videos are realistic or are these people faking everything? I started water fasting because of these videos and just want to have realistic expectations.

Answer

You can lose that as gross weight for a week. Me while fasting average .25kg loss which will be fat and muscle. The longer I go I have to walk off calories more to stay at a consistent loss. This is all on rolling 72s. The bigger you are, the faster you’ll lose

Answer

Early fasting weight loss is rapid as a lot of the loss is water and waste weight. That said, I did a 50 day fast and lost a total of 61lbs, so large amounts of weight still comes off even after 30+ days. I probably lost about 2lbs per day on average for the first 2-3 weeks but then it slowed to about a lb per day. Also, the weight tends to come off faster when you have more weight to lose. I would say that anything from about a half to a pound of body fat loss per day is reasonable.

Answer

You usually lose weight if you have certain conditions. I have previously lost around 12kgs in 10 days but it isn’t sustainable. Maybe you won’t regain it but you won’t lose weight at the same pace.

I have hypothyroidism so I have issues with water retention and bloating. I have seen myself lose upto 1.7kgs in a span of 24 hours through fasting.

Answer

I’ve lost around 11kg over the past 3 weeks, roughly. I’m pretty heavy, though, so that might have something to do with it. Youtubers might embellish the weight loss to seem more palatable for viewers. You know, that influencer culture stuff.

I have yet to see a “hey look at all the weight I gained back” video on YT (not saying one doesnt exist tho), so yeah, I’d say it’s safe to assume we’re only getting part of the story and even that is likely exagerrated for clickbait. I’m petite, and the most I seem to have been able to shave off - eating absolutely nothing at all- was 0.6 lbs per day. someone who is larger and has more to lose is more metobolically expensive, so they’ll drop more weight more quickly (not much of a flex though, if you think about it!). Better to get into à rhythm that feels healthy, comfortable, and sustainable to you than to worry about comparing yourself to others’ results. All the best!
