Anyone have any evidence suggesting whether it would be better to fast/not to fast during certain phases of the menstrual cycle? I.E. during lower energy luteal/menstrual or higher energy follicular/ovulatory phase?
My impulse is to fast on days when I won’t be as active (i.e. late luteal to menstrual) but then I worry about depleting my body’s need for nutrients as it’s losing them.
I personally fast more the week before I’m due, usually a 48 hour fast before my due day. I find that it makes it lighter and I cramp so much less. The months where I’m early and I haven’t had the chance to prepare, I find are heavier and so much more painful.
I’ve been fasting or OMAD the two days before and two days of menses. I’ve found these are my big binge days and I struggle to stay even keto nevermind within my deficit. So why not draw a hard line? It’s been fantastic to have boundaries on the days when it used to be an excuse for anything goes.
Just posted my own thread, but should have chimed in here. I just started my fast today, but it’s also day 1 of my period. I take birth control so I can’t comment on things like my fast affecting the length of my period, but I’m interested to hear others thoughts!
