Feeling energetic????????

I just genuinely don’t understand how you guys feel ‘full of energy’ while fasting. This is my third day of a four day fast and I’ve tried it all— taking electrolytes, drinking a sufficient amount of water, black coffee, meditating and so on— yet I still feel abnormally weak. My legs are heavy, I’m dizzy and everything’s just exhausting. I honestly cannot wait to break this fast already. Also, no, this isn’t my first extended fast, I’ve been doing it for months and it’s always been the same for me. I’m not hungry whatsoever, it’s just that constant feeling of dizziness and weakness that’s pissing me off. 😐 anyone else experiencing this or am I the only one? And what can I do about it because I feel like I’m about to go insane lol.

Answer

It’s easier if you are already in ketosis before attempting longer fasts. For many people the process of going into ketosis can be painful. For me, it was migraine and vomiting on Day 2. Had to break my fast yesterday because of it. My previous successful fasts I was already in ketosis before diving in. But if loaded my body with carb-heavy meals before fasting I feel all the negative aspects of transitioning to ketosis, including the symptoms you described. Maybe go carnivore on your day 0, avoid all carbs, and do some cardio to deplete your glycogen stores?
