I’ve tried watching some informational videos but wanted to get some personal experiences. I’m 41 years old. I’ve had some success with keto and fasting 18:6 in the past but the pandemic has kicked my butt and I need to kick it back in gear. I’ve heard too many extended fasts can hurt women hormonally. Have you seen that to be the case with you?
I did rolling 7 days for about 4 months at the end of last year. Prior to that I’d had recurrent pregnancy loss - 7 miscarriages - with no known cause . My period stayed like clockwork and I dropped around 65 lbs then got pregnant again and it stuck. Now I have a 2.5 month old :)
Fasting absolutely did not hurt my hormones.
I regularly do 5-7 day fasts and have lost 80 lbs so far. I’ve only seen positive impacts and no major hormonal issues. In fact, my period has greatly improved in terms of getting slightly lighter and less cramping. The only kind of negative thing is that I’ve had some vaginal dryness but it hasn’t interfered with intimacy and hasn’t been too uncomfortable in my day to day life. It also seems to be going back to normal again now.
I started with 16:8 but quickly went to OMAD and sporadic 48-54hr fasts (I think those will become a weekly thing going forward). For about 2 months now, with about 4 days off for holidays. Not sure of lbs lost yet, but I am down 4 full pants sizes (I carry my weight below my waist). I don’t know if it has caused hormonal changes or not; with a naturally-wonky period + on/off/switching birth control methods, it’s all out of whack lately 😅
I’ve been doing rolling fasts (usually 24-36 hours) for a couple of months now and I’ve had no issues with hormones. My period comes regularly. I haven’t tried to get pregnant or anything so not sure how things are affected at that level.
