What is the healthiest (or least unhealthy) sliced cheese that I can buy from the deli and throw on a sandwich or burger?
All of my search results are showing things like feta, goat, fresh mozz, ricotta, etc. which are all great but not the type of answer I am looking for here.
Thanks in advance!
most sliced cheeses are going to be similar nutritonally, also you have to define healthy for yourself, are you looking for something low calorie? if so a part skim cheese may be your best bet, others may say a grass-fed/organic sliced cheese will be the best for its micronutrient profile as well as omega 3s
If you are looking for a brand name, I really like Tillamook cheese. I had the chance to visit their cheese factory in Oregon and seems like their process is legit, you can see (and smell) the cows as you enter the small town, and their process far exceeds the legal standards. I really like the taste as well.
I use sargento thin slices. Probably the same nutritionally as any cheese but it’s only 45 calories so you can get the cheese taste on your sandwich or burger without adding a hundred calories or more.
Like other commenters have said, all cheese is going to be between 90-110ish an ounce. The real trick is to get it sliced on the thinnest setting at the deli, my slices come out to around 30 calories each.
