I feel fine overall, but my electrolytes seem off or maybe I’m dehydrated? I just did at 48, and for much of it my heart was pounding when I got up for any activity. Not tachycardia, but I could feel it.
I’m doing 1/2tsp salt with 1/4 tsp NuSalt 4x a day (4400 mg sodium and 2500mg potassium). Also taking magnesium theonate 3x day. Also drinking water as thirsty/hungry. About an additional 96oz/day.
Is it not enough sodium and/or potassium? Is it caffeine sensitivity on an empty stomach maybe?
For reference I’m 6’4”, 240 pounds. Goal weight is 220. Starting was 265. I’ve done 36s before and not had this issue but I did snake juice then. But the snake juice gave me diarrhea. Maybe I should go back to that?.
It’s totally possible you’re just peeing out a lot of your electrolytes more quickly than other people. Why not try adding a fifth dose and maybe holding off on drinking so much extra water and see if that helps?
Low sodium levels cause your body to release adrenaline and cortisol to compensate for lower blood pressure. For whatever reason, it sounds like you may just need to supplement some more—but the only way you’ll know for sure is if you play around with your levels. I know some people say you don’t need electrolytes for certain length fasts, but I’ve also got to stay on top of mine pretty much everyday or I won’t sleep and my feet will cramp up. (Guess we just got lucky, huh?)
