Home made alternates for 0 cal electrolyte-water (LMNT/AG1 etc..)

I am on IF most days and would love to incorporate ‘starting my day with electrolytes’, and wait 90 mins for my black coffee. What’s a good home made alternate with zero-calories? LMNT & AG1 seem pretty pricey and unnecessary to me?

This is the recipe that LMNT has posted on their website.

There is also the Snake Juice recipe that is similar to this.

Both of these will be zero calorie. I don’t mind drinking these plain, but it’s a very different taste. A couple squirts of Mio lemonade and they taste a bit like old school Gatorade.

Answer

Put salt in your water. Andrew does that.

Don’t know what your goal is though. AG1 isn’t for electrolytes.

If you exercise (with a lot of sweat) in the morning, probably any hydration tablets would work. They’re available everywhere. I use them for sports sometimes. Here is Dr. Galpin talking about them in depth and some alternatives.

Answer

I don’t have an answer to your question, but as an LMNT subscriber …

I agree that it’s pricey and sometimes I question why I spend so much money on fancy salt.

However, it’s convenient and effective and it’s helped me be consistent in a way I wouldn’t be if I took a DIY approach.
