How fast did you start losing?

Hi all, I am a 35/f with recently diagnosed Hashimotos. Now that I’ve been put on thyroid medication, I’m trying IF with Noom. I’ve been on medication for a month and saw no substantial loss.

I started IF on Saturday and have already dropped 6lbs. I am definitely getting my water in and added green tea so I’m skeptical it’s water weight? I’m doing 18:6, with two big meals at the beginning and end and a light snack in between.

Just wondering if that drop is expected or maybe I found something that is working extremely well for me 🙈

Thank you!

Answer

Water weight isn’t about how much water you’re drinking, it’s about the stored water in your cells. From what i can tell, i think a way to explain it is that our cells store a lot of sugar (glycogen) and water. Inflammation can cause your body to store more fluid. So when you reduce inflammation in your body via IF, your body ends up flushing fluids in the beginning and you experience a big woosh of weight loss. The loss will slow down, but that woosh can be pretty typical. Good luck to you on your journey!
