How to control compulsive eating?

Hi,

I have been on 18:6 since 2 months and have lost 5kgs. I literally had no issues in controlling my hunger pangs or avoid eating junk foods. I am a vegetarian and I was on very healthy diet since 2 months. I am taking vitamin supplements since 2 months and I don’t think I am on any deficiency. But since 5 days, I have extreme desire to eat junk and sweets. I have been eating lot of cheese, sugary food and junk which I never had all my life. At first I thought may be I’ll eat a day or two and will get back to normal routine of 18:6. But I’m feeling I have completely lost track. I’m not sure what’s happening. I am not a foodie or a person who always hog on food. Please suggest why is it happening to me and how to get over it?

Sorry if my wordings are not legible. English is not my native language.

Answer

Considering you said you’re pre diabetic I’m willing to bet your insulin levels are high which are a huge driver for cravings / hunger.

I would try to go low carb at least just temporary to see if it helps.

Even if vegetarian, as a pre diabetic it’s gonna involve too much sugar.

Research “vegetarian keto”, see if it appeals to you.

Also, make sure even if fasting your calories aren’t too low so then you aren’t so deprived that you’re desperately eating.
