I just tried fasting for the first time and broke it after only 1 day- I felt incredibly hungry

I tried to fast but just could not. I felt incredibly weak and was constantly messing things up- is this normal or is it some type of medical condtion?

Answer

Work your way up.

Start by switching to keto/paleo first.

Then do IF 16:8

IF 18:6

IF 20:4

OMAD

24 hour fast

30 hour fast

36 hour fast

Etc…

Changing your whole eating habits and lifestyle is not easy and takes some hard work. Incremental steps give your body time to adjust.

Answer

Based on my experience that is normal for 1 day to still be hungry, it took me 2 days for the hunger to go away and then it was just mind games to NOT eat for the third day. I would try it again for longer to see how it goes.

Answer

Try eating keto for 1 month. Then try OMAD for 1 month. Then fast 24 hours and go back to OMAD and so on, working your way up or as you feel okay without going overboard. Please remember the electrolytes, super important for feeling okay and being safe.

Answer

Don’t give up. It takes time and several attempts for your mind and body to adjust to fasting. If all you can do is 18hr fasts without feeling horrible, then keep doing that. Eventually you will have a breakthrough. You can also try a fasting mimicking regimen where you’re still consuming some calories. It’s like training wheels.
