Answer

Eat at maintenance calories.

If you don’t want to calorie count, you can probably eat a bit more than you have been to lose. Pay attention to the scale and add/remove a bit of food as necessary to achieve your desired results.

Answer

Calorie counting might benefit you in the beginning unless you have an eating disorder and you’re trying to stay away from it for that reason. Doesn’t have to go on forever or even long term, but I would figure out your maintainence calories, and spend like a month counting calories with a calorie tracking app so you can really visualize and get a feel for what a ‘normal’ amount of food is for you in a day.

I have noticed though that eating a low carb paleo(or other similar diet - basically cut out the refined sugar, preferably white bread and rice and refined carbs too) made maintenance pretty effortless for me - but I’m still mindful of the calories I’m eating even if I’m not tracking every single one - if I really want to munch out I’ll munch out on veggies and hummus or low cal dressing and fruits first and 9 out of 10 times that scratches the itch(and if I’m still hungry afterwards, I’ll eat something more substantial, but usually I’m not), for instance. I’ll still allow a cheat day once a week and eat whatever I want, and it seems like it works well. There’s a lot of really great recipes out there and I really find that I don’t want for much outside my cheat day, but it is something I definitely still look forward to.
