As the title suggests - does anyone else work in construction / high energy job that requires us to be in all conditions while fasting? Any tips on making sure I’m staying safe while doing an extended water fast?
I live in rural TN, and I routinely operate equipment on our property that could kill or seriously insure me if I were to make a clumsy decision. I also routinely carry firearms and other potentially deadly tools out on the property. It’s easy to take these types of situations for granted because they are normal day to day activities, but that does not change the inherent danger it presents.
Once you go over the 48 hour mark without food you are no longer bringing your A game. People can tell me all day how mentally sharp and such they are on multi day fasts but in my own experience that is all bullshit. I know damn well I am diminished, and I will get increasingly more so the longer I persist.
If I have shit that needs done that can’t wait then that will not be a week that I go on a multi day fast. In your own situation, try to plan your fasts around your off time to the greatest degree possible. The last thing you need is to be at the controls of a front end loader, Bobcat or whatever when you are not fully functional.
I do a 20 hour fast with a 4 hour eating window, typically im not hungry enough to eat for 4 hours I end up eating one meal a day. What I find us you need to keep protein bars and fruits and nuts in your lunch box as an emergency. There’s been times where I’ve felt like physically and mentally unwell you need to be mindfully of your body and give it what it needs when it asks for it. And I find drinking an absolute ton of water and electolights are great too
I work on a drill rig and do ADF with no issues. I don’t know about extended fasting as I’ve never done anything longer than the 36hours. However, if you don’t find your answer about the extended fasting then ADF is definitely a viable option:)
