Hello everyone. I’m on 83 hours or my 96 hour fast. It’s my first time doing a fast this long. Any tips on foods to eat that won’t be harsh on the stomach or will give me GI issues?
Bone broth, whatever flavor you prefer, maybe half an avocado with a little salt. Give it a few hours, have some more of the same. Then some eggs. I break 100 hour fasts like this and for me personally this works well. My first long fast I made the one time, will never ever happen again mistake by breaking with a full meal. 0/10 do not recommend.
For me, the longest fast was 40+ hours, which means I don’t heve first hand experience. I would say go with bone broth. Give yourself some time and some more broth to sip and eat something like egg, avocado, chicken brest. Don’t eat beans, cabage, heavy, oily, spicy food and go easy on carbs.
As another redditor mentioned, bone broth is good to break a fast and warm up the digestion track. I also recommend introducing some form of pre-biotics and pro-biotics once you’re actually sitting down to eat, because this replenishes the gut micro biome and does wonders for digestion and mood
I’m a big fan of homemade miso soup. It’s got electrolytes, probiotics, protein (especially if you chop some silken/soft tofu into it) and it’s mostly fluids so it will flush through you quickly after breaking your fast.
