IF but dry - Good or Bad?

I was scrolling somewhere and came across a blog of someone doing dry fasting intermittently. Like they went 20hrs dry gave a 4hr water window then went back to dry. Is this even worth doing or trying? Or has anybody tried doing it this way?

It depends on what you are consuming in those 4 hours. Because you will want to be hydrated when you return to dry fasting. IF can be useful, but you really don’t gain many benefits of dry fasting unless you do it for more than 36 hours

I do it every day, while having a strenuous job on my feet in 12 hour shifts. Go home, knock out my resistance training, eat meat, drink some water. I’d estimate I eat/drink over a 90 minute to two hour window every day. Every now and then I’ll have some meat for lunch if I get hungry, that’s not too often.

Been incorporating the daily dry IF for about 3 months now, love it.

Prior to this I’d done a couple 4 and 5 day water fasts, as well as a couple 3 and 4 day dry fasts. Easy peasy, way easier than people think it is (if you’re a fat adapted person - don’t try it if you’re not, imho)

This is pretty close to Ramadan fasting where they go 10-16 hours dry from sunrise to sunset. There is some decent research on these populations and usually improved weight, a1c, etc. Most of the studies end with the “but one month later everyone returned to baseline.” This is usually because they went back to their previous diet. So yes, it can be helpful, but unless you change your overall behaviors it will not last. Just like all dietary changes.
