IF Make me fat

IF or OMAD does not mean “a binge.”

It’s structuring your eating plan to optimize various metabolic processes.
Binging is the total opposite of a plan.

If you use IF as an excuse to binge of course you gain weight.

In the end it’s all about controlling the calories that your hand puts into your mouth. IF helps lots of people manage that.

If you are not one that it helps then you need to seek another method of controlling your calories.

Results for people vary. IF isn’t just don’t eat for half the day. I noticed you said you’d fast and binge and that you don’t want to starve yourself. I think if you start with knowing how many calories you need daily and build nutrient rich meals around that then it would probably be a different experience for you

This will sound crass, but your relationship with food is what caused the excess gain, not IF. Binging is quite serious and I hope you are able to get that side in check. I would ensure that you have basic nutritional understanding, which will include how many calories you need daily, a healthier relationship with food, etc., Before attempting some thing like intermittent fasting again.

If you are binging you are doing IF wrong, probably pushing your fasting window too quickly. The same thing happened to me and once I opened up my eating window and took it slower, no more binging. You need to play around with the IF schedule to make it work for you, you can’t just take some else’s schedule, this is not one size fits all. For example, most people love fasting in the morning and eating later in the day. If I did that, I would be binging. However when I eat in the morning-lunch and skip dinner, I am just fine. Find out what works for you, but you should not be pilling on the food during your eating window.
