IM with anti depressants and/or anti anxiety medicine

Hi friends! I’m starter IM in February to loose a few (20) pounds and try to adapt a better lifestyle in general (haven’t had fast food in a month, yay me!!). I do 18/6 with eating window from 5-6pm to I go to bed around midnight. Anyways…

I’ve been taking Effexor/Venlafaxine (SSNI) anti depressant for years and always taken it in the morning. It has to be taken with food because it’s quite hard on the gut (I think, what the pharmacist told me).

So, the question is - do I keep taking it in the morning even though I don’t eat until 6pm? I don’t think this is the right solution, but I can also see some issues with taking it in the evening because it has a tendency to “wear off” and cause other side effects.

Looking for other people in similar situations who can share their solutions. Thank you and have a great night!!

Answer

I have switched several antidepressants from morning dosing to nighttime dosing due to drowsiness side effects. Do they have you on an XR, extended release? If so, should be fine, just clear it with your doc.
