https://youtu.be/A6Dkt7zyImk when I saw this last year i started it, also because my favorite mma fighter (retired) GSP does it aswell. I lost around 17kg in a year (also ate insanely clean and worked out a lot). I do it now almost everyday without any problems.
You should eat maintenance (the amount you burn kcal a day) to stay the same weight, eat less than this (for each 500kcal deficit you lose around a pound a week).Focus on protein when you take workouts seriously. I eat 2 grams protein for each kg.
It is not about eating less, it is about recharging and filling your pancreas with juice which breaks down fat.
