Is this regimen too much? Would it be possible to lose 60-70lbs by the end of the year (14 weeks)?

My SW is 243 and I’m 5’2, f, 31.

If I start off with a 2-3 week fast, do OMAD/CICO for 2 weeks, roll into another 2-3 week fast etc. etc. until I lose about 70lbs, would that be okay?

I’m generally healthy and the only thing my PCP is concerned about is my high cholesterol. My longest fast so far at this weight has been 3 days. When I was way thinner I went 21 days.

Answer

70lbs in 14 weeks is 5lbs per week. 1lb~3500kcal, so that’s around 2500 kcal of daily deficit.

Your daily metabolic expenditure should be something around 1500 kcal. So to lose that weight in that period you would need to fast for that whole period and spend 1000 active kcal per day - no cheat days, no off days.

This approach seems borderline impossible to me.

Speaking from experience, since the start of September I have been aiming to lose about 60-70 pounds by November. I’ve been doing weekly-ish rolling fasts. I usually go about 6-7 days then I’ll eat, then I’ll carry on going and just doing that over and over. I’ve lost 24 pounds in 21 days so far so I’m actually probably going to hit that goal in November. I don’t have a lot of experience with OMAD as I find it harder than fasting so I can’t account for that but seeing as you’re looking to finish at the end of December, I think it’s very possible.
