Need help understanding IF properly.

i’ve been doing intermittent fasting for 3 weeks now but this weekend i stayed at my sisters place and it was very busy and hectic so i didn’t do a great job of sticking to my 18/6 fasting. basically i’d make my last meal too late because i was busy with some work and would either not eat at all and just fast or eg. sunday i was supposed to stop eating at 6 but i had finished my dinner by 7. i didn’t break it too bad considering i didn’t eat past 7 but i really was hard on myself. i want to succeed with IF but can someone give me tips? should i change my eating window? also what’s the best time to do a 30 cardio? when fasting or when i have broken my fast? any tips to make sure i’m able to stick to my journey would be greatly appreciated! in the last 3 weeks of intermittent fasting i lost nearly 10 lbs..idk if that’s healthy/okay but i felt motivated to keep going!

Sounds like this weekend was outside your normal routine, so don’t sweat your window being more flexible. Truly, IF is inherently flexible, that’s what’s great about it. Life happens and sometimes you won’t stick to your window. Not the end of the world. You can start next day fresh, or maybe shrink your window the next day. Whatever you prefer.

To your second point, I do OMAD and workout in the fasted state. Then I shower, prep my meal, and eat it.

You can have a flexible window. Sometimes I’d go on date night with my wife and finish eating at 9pm. Just means I push my window back the next day to 1pm instead of 12pm. My weekend window would often shift by an hour or two. No worries!

I also would run in the morning in fasted state. Usually 6 miles. Not a problem once your body adjusts.
