Need some advice on electrolytes and fasting

Now before I get roasted for not following the guidelines laid out in the sub let me say i just found this subreddit after doing some googling.

So I am on day 2 of a 3 day fast and stupidly dropped about a teaspoon of pink salt in about 12 oz of water and chugged it. After doing some reading on this sub I can see now this was a very dumb idea because I have been stuck on the toilet all morning with diarrhea.

I don’t want to break my fast until I complete my 3 days but also do not want to do something even more idiotic by not calling off the fast if its going to do more harm to my body.

I have been re hydrating with just water and don’t have any other symptoms as of now. What are your thoughts on the matter and has anyone else been in a similar situation?

Answer

In my experience, you absolutely need a robust electrolytes plan, I’m talking full spectrum, i.e., potassium, magnesium and salt to be successful. Also, they give you diarrhea. I’ve heard of a type of magnesium that reduces diarrhea. I think that everyone gets the squirts. Gross but necessary
