Pot luck foods that won’t destroy my fast.

I have to socialize this week with friends, what’s a good dish to take to a gathering that won’t negate all the loss I have had for the past 8 days? I’ve lost 10 lbs and I will be really disappointed if I put 5 of that back on in a day …

It is a potluck so is not like you are bringing food for yourself, so focus on bringing something tasty for everybody to enjoy.

When I go out to eat with my daughters we usually don’t get a dish for everybody as the portions are too much. Still if they are hungry (or heck if I’m hungry) I just eat something before I go. That way my appetite is properly spoiled and I can enjoy good food without the urge to overdo it.

You could do the same. Spoil your appetite before you go with something healthy. That way you won’t be hungry and can have small portions of things.

Fasting for 8 days means you will not be eating anything. Breaking an extended fast means a tapered, timed reintroduction.

Just take something they will enjoy. And bring your favorite mineral water.

If you haven’t eaten for 8 days, don’t start at the potluck. If you want to limit refeed weight gain, go low carb veggies or high fat, low carb foods (cheese, almonds, pecans, bacon-creamcheese-jalapenos). Just remember, if you haven’t eaten anything in 8 days, you will probably need a toilet within a few hours of eating and I wouldn’t want to do it at a friend’s place…
