Question for those trying the Spam & Pickles Snake Diet

I’m a 53 year old male, 5’11 and weighing 393 pounds. At one point last year, I lost 80 pounds in five months doing rotating 72’s. Then I screwed up and gained most of it back.

I decided to get back on the Snake Diet, and get rid of this damn weight. That’s when I discovered Cole’s “Spam & Pickles” routine. Plus I saw the “Snake Diet Fatman’s” YouTube page. That dude has had incredible results. I decided rather than doing rotating 72’s I would try Spam & Pickles instead and see how it went.

I started it two weeks ago. I did a 72 hour fast, then broke my fast with Spam & Pickles, three meals consisting of 2 slices of Spam and 3 Pickles, spread throughout the day. Then I went straight into another 36 hour fast. Then repeat. So basically I am doing Spam and Pickles ADF.

As of today, I am down to 375 from 393, so I have lost 18 pounds in under two weeks. This routine definitely works and I intend to stick to it.

Here is my question and I would like some advice and opinions…

I can actually live with eating nothing aside from one can of Spam and some Pickles every other day. It’s boring as hell, but I do feel full and it’s certainly working. I have pretty much eliminated sugar and carbs.

But…I would like to add some greens/roughage to this diet. Specifically, I am considering a 300 gram Caesar Salad, divided into three single 100 gram portions, to go along with the Spam and Pickles.

By my calculations, a standard head of Romaine Lettuce likely has 100 - 150 calories, and maybe 4 grams of carbs. I would not include croutons or even cheese in the salad. The best dressing I could use is 130 calories. No fibre, no sugar and maybe 1 gram of protein.

So if I was to try this, I would be increasing my (every other) daily calorie count by about 250 calories, or basically an extra 80 calories to each portion of Spam & Pickles I eat. I think the increase in my carbs and proteins would be negligible.

I am wondering if you think the addition of a (carefully prepared) Caesar Salad would knock me out of Ketosis, or push my macronutrients out of the parameters set by Cole and make the Spam & Pickles routine pointless?

Why add something to a program that is working well for you? It’s boring for a reason. You can use pepperoni slices, bacon or other similar meats for variety if you so choose. I’d leave it alone and stay with what’s working for you. Don’t overthink it and get in your own way imho/
