The importance of gut health

> Your gut bacteria are extremely important for many aspects of health. Many studies have now shown that a disrupted microbiome can lead to numerous chronic diseases. The best way to maintain a healthy microbiome is to eat a range of fresh, whole foods, mainly from plant sources like fruits, veggies, legumes, beans, and whole grains.

The best advice I can give to people who want to lead a healthier lifestyle is to eat as many different vegetables and fruits as they can. People often hear this advice, but don’t understand why and keep eating their favorite vegetables/fruits. I see a lot of people going on diets and having one banana per day or juggling between their 2 favorite salads. That’s not bad, but try to eat a little bit of everything. This is the first and most important step you must take. It makes all the difference. A healthy gut leads to healthy mind which is key to achieving your goals no matter what they are. When your mind is in a good place it will give you more of the motivation you need and less of the doubts we often feel during weight loss journeys. Feed the thousands of little bacteria that live inside you like you would feed a pet and they will return the favor tenfold.

I so wish there was a guide or cook book that had easy solutions for creating a simple achievable meal plan - for a young family. I get going and quickly get stuck in the mud of information and choices and fails (messed up the recipe because I was interrupted a thousand times or they decide they won’t eat because it’s too spicy etc.). Even yogurt!! There at sooo many options and the sugar choices and amounts give me grocery store paralysis.

This rant is meant to inspire someone to make a recommendation of such a resource. Low glycemic and reproducible for a mom who is overwhelmed with tasks and small people talking at her - just all the time. I so want good things for them but It. Is. Hard. Anyone up for writing such a book?
