Two days into IF; constant headache, diarrhea, and dry mouth?

Is that normal? How long do they usually last? I feel dehydrated but I’m drinking water constantly. Also dealing with some brain fog. Kind of miserable honestly. Lol. This phase doesn’t last right??

Answer

It sounds like you need more electrolytes. The lack is where the unquenchable thirst comes from, but drinking more water is only further flushing out your system and exacerbating the problem.

Chicken broth or ketoade are cheap easy ways to supplement them, and the /r/ keto FAQ has recommendations for other sources - although you won’t need as many electrolytes unless you’re also on keto.

Answer

Some diarrhea in the beginning is fairly ok, because when weight-loss happens, we shed the associated water with it. But that also flushes out electrolytes. So make sure to get that back. Dry lips can be from drinking too much water, so I can imagine that your dry mouth might have the same cause. I would drink sufficient water, but not overdo it. My occasional headaches went away after about two weeks.
