Fluctuations are part of the process, especially if you’re weighing every day. Weight loss is rarely a straight down arrow due to how water retention factors in. Even the act of the body using fat cells involves a lot of water being used, stored, and then let go.

One way to think about it, there’s \~3,500 calories in a pound of fat. If you lost 7 lbs of pure fat that would have been a deficit of 24,500 calories, which would be hard to say the least. But you also probably didn’t consume an extra 17,500 in two days either to gain 5.

I personally do like to weigh every day at a consistent time and state, first thing in the morning, but I have an app that plots out the trends. Other folks prefer to weigh less frequently.

Loss of water weight is fantastic! You are losing a lot of inflammation. The body holds on to 2 to 3 g of water for every gram of carbohydrates ingested, carbohydrates need a lot of water to process. Avoid processed carbs.
