what can I have that won't affect weight loss during IF?

I’m sure you’ve all been asked if chewing gum breaks a fast or not, and for the most part many say no because it’s sugar free so it doesn’t raise your blood sugar, but I’ve also read that it still affects weight loss during IF, since the sweeteners still need to be broken down by your body somehow and also cause your body to activate insulin secretions.

So while I know that it won’t prevent me from losing weight during IF, I want to know how much the constant chewing of sugar free gum will affect the weight loss.

I was also wondering if swallowing the gum will do any difference, and if the same goes for sparkling water/zero sugar beverages (i.e, soda).

Answer

I’m new to IF. But I’m also reading Delay…. So fresh to my eyes she says if it tastes sweet or has calories it releases insulin and breaks your fast. According to this book it’s not the calories only it’s the sweetness that triggers the insulin. So this author’s opinion says it does break your fast. Again, I’m new (on day 4), but I’m not doing anything to break my fast. It’s too valuable a part of the reason I’m doing this. IMO
