I was just curious about this method of fasting as extended dry fasting isn’t something I can fully commit to but also want the weight and effects. I’ve seen some posts talk about it but very vague so ig I’m here to get around advice to help me and others thinking about this. mainly I’m looking for how much weight loss and improvements on this plan to better optimise it
the plan I’m thinking of is pretty much:
Mon: dry
Tue: water
Wed: dry
Thur: water
Fri: dry
Sat: water
Sun: food
and essentially slap this on repeat for 2 or 3 weeks at a time.
now to address the comments that will say this is unhealthy or why not slowly dry fast and control your diet. It’s because I’ve had a surprise announcement for a wedding scheduled for 2 months and I’ve gained a lot of weight and to “fit” into the clothes I need to lose 30ish kilos. now my hopes are in 2 months I reach this and maybe lose more but seems doubtful therefore I’m aiming for the most while being able to maintain a normal life. I do appreciate your concerns and agree slow and steady wins the race but in this situation it’s not ganna work so please give me any advice that could get me an edge
I think the problem with this fasting protocol is that you’re going to have all the negatives of dry fasting, without the benefits, i.e. if you’re drinking water every second day, your body is not going to start producing its own water.
Dr Filonov recommends that if you mix up your fasts, then do dry first then water.
Just wanted to comment on this:

People in this sub are generally here because we’re very pro-dry fasting and so if you feel people are being critical it might be because their experience and research has told them what you’re doing is less likely to work. We also see posts here nearly every day with someone’s extremely ambitious plan on how they’re going to lose an incredible amount of weight dry fasting for x amount of days. It is rare that any of these people follow-up with how successful they are.
The thing is a lot of us also genuinely understand the desire to lose weight relatively quickly for a variety of reasons, but there is a reason why everyone doesn’t stop eating and drinking for 2 months to lose 30 kilos and that isn’t because other people are being negative.
The thing is dry fasting is incredibly difficult for most people. You need to really have the right mindset. However without an eating plan as well it just doesn’t work. You’ll find yourself putting most of the weight back on, in just a day or two of your eating days.
If you have the willpower a plan that works for many people to drop weight quickly, is to do alternate day fasting (dry or water), and on your eating days, make it zero carb, ideally just ribeye steaks, eggs and butter. As much as you can eat - seriously. When I have done this (or similar), it is pretty amazing just how efficient it is, I just wish I had the will power to do it longer term.
Lastly depending on what size you are now, 30 kilos in 2 months is a lot and I suspect unlikely unless you currently weigh 200 kilos.
I would just do a 2 or 3 day dry fast and then a water fast.
Dry fasting causes different mechanisms in your body to activate, but they can take time. This on and off schedule might not give your body time for it to activate the beneficial mechanisms you want.
I’d regroup days in 3 days dry fasting and the last 3 days water fasting. Do not mix them ( electrolytes unbalance).
My doubt is about only one refeed day: probably it is ok in the first week but you’ll need more days after some weeks.
Can you tell us your BW and BF% (an estimation is ok)?
I agree with poppiesinterains post, sounds unlikely you will get much benefits from the dry fast-days that way, it may even be harder to lose weight, but that is just a guess.
Alternatives could be to;
I think the weight loss part from dry fasting is exaggerated. I mean sure, you lose more weight and it should look fairly good (regarding loose skin etc) and some fat cells disappears completely. But I find the body is prone to compensate by absorbing a ton of salt/water/fat as soon as you start eating again unless you have a good refeed-plan. You are likely not gonna do a very good job with the refeed-process in this schedule, considering how absorbing the body is after a dry fast.
This is just some thoughts from what I have read and experienced myself. Also the phoenix protocol dude dropped a video just yesterday (or the day before?) about not using dry fast for dieting. It could work of course (I think) in some well thought out plans.
