Hi guys! I’m a teacher who gets a half hour meal break. I look forward to this time because my day is fricking crazy. I often really look forward to eating but am wanting to try OMAD. My question is does anyone have something they look forward to during your lunch break that’s not food obviously? Maybe I should start a show on Hulu and enjoy a hot tea? Read? Any tips? Thanks!
I alternate between taking a walk with a podcast or audible, reading a book, or scrolling reddit depending on weather/mood.
For reddit I have a custom feed I made of non food subs. Honestly it’s mostly kittens, puppies, and memes.
Maybe get a meditation app like headspace, go to your car to get away from the classroom, do a 5 minute guided meditation in your car and then tilt the seat back and do a 15 minute power nap? A little meditation and power nap is massively helpful for me to clear my head and recharge for the afternoon.
I’m currently doing OMAD and I prefer to eat at lunch instead of dinner. That way, I’m awake and get to use my calories to be productive at work instead of having energy right before bed. I still hang out with my family and drink herbal tea at the table during dinner. I know everyone’s different, but just an idea.
I’m currently practicing OMAD. I have an hour lunch break. That’s usually when I plan dinner. If I need to run to the grocery store for items, I do it at that time. If I don’t need anything, I binge YouTube videos. It’s nice to have a cup of tea while watching. I also have days when I’m super-focused and don’t want to break concentration. So, I work through lunch. If you have small work-related things, that don’t take much effort (but, will help your days run smoother), do it during lunch.
I drive five minutes to a State Park then walk ten minutes to a lake. I either walk 1km around the lake or go for a swim, depending on the weather, then go back. Exercise suppresses your appetite so any exercise will be beneficial. Then eat your meal early evening.
I love doing something for myself to help recharge that emotional spot food used to fill. Examples are taking a walk, just throwing on headphones and jamming out, reading a book, spacing out for 30 minutes, journaling, etc.
Find something that fills your soul instead of food and DO THAT. You’ve got this.
OMAD is working for me, I have different teas at different times during the day. Coffee and green tea in the morning. Hibiscus tea for lunch. Water with lemon slice throughout. Chamomile after my OMAD dinner.
