What’s better for me?

What’s better for me?

I workout everyday mostly cardio and walk a lot for work. Would it be safe for me to do a 48 hour fast if I burn 1500 to 1700 calories as a 5”7 135 pound male? Or should I stick to OMAD?

Answer

I’ve done a 36 hours fast before and it was fine.

I train twice a day. Cardio in the morning and strength (calisthenics) afternoon.

I always run fasted on a morning anyway.

The only time I find it difficult is if I run more then 12km or I have a heavy lifting session.

Other then that I’ve always been fine.

What is your goal for fasting? You seem to be at a healthy weight. If you’re trying to lose or maintain weight. OMAD should be good. If you’re going for autophagy, you’ll want to go for the 48-hour fast. I completed a 48-hour fast and lost 2 pounds. I was fairly active as well. I’m 5’ 11” and 200 lbs, though, so you might not lose as much weight as I did.

Answer

I suggest OMAD. I just fasted for 48 hours and had some mild headaches on day 2. I am back on a no car OMAD an. If you do not plan to skip a workout, OMAD is better.

But I agree with the post above - 5’7” 135 pounds? You have a BMI of 21. Are you trying to cleanse, lose weight, lose fat??

Answer

I do a 4 day fast monthly and doing cardio is my favorite part. I can’t really run or lift on those days but my 4 mile walk often turns to 6 on my extended fasting days. I do 20:4 otherwise. I have achieved and maintained my ideal weight for almost 2 years now. There is deep ketosis and deep autophagy that you just can’t get doing OMAD only.
