why is eating too few calories bad for health?

is it because of malnutrition and if we eat too little, we do not get enough nutrients? or is it the calories in themselves are important even if they have little nutritional value?

Answer

Calories themselves are important to keep the body running, but if all those calories are coming from gummy bears, eventually you’ll run into a nutritional deficiency and the body will start breaking down in some ways anyway. Quality calories is the key.

Answer

A calorie is a unit of measurement. It’s the way we measure energy. Your body uses energy everyday, even if you were too lay down and do nothing all day. There is energy required to keep your heart beating and your digestion going etc. If you eat too little calories you will not have enough energy to perform all the basic functions that your body needs to do to keep you alive.

Answer

calories are the potential chemical energy that you’re body would turn food into, so for example a cookie once digestived would produce 150 calories of energy, so calories are a of measurement exactly how much chemical energy is in foods/anything your body could theoretically digest Eating too few calories means you’re body expending more energy to keep you moving and alive Then you are eating, and is having to tap into stored energy sources such as fat and also muscle depending on how little you’re eating

Answer

I think it’s the amount of overall calories. I remember someone telling me if you add a 0 to your weight, that’s the amount of calories you need to stay the same weight, otherwise you will lose weight.IDK if thats actually true, but it makes sense.
