Why no oat milk in coffee in AM?

Can someone explain it to me like I’m 5…why can’t I put a drop of oat milk in my coffee amidst my fast in the morning?

If it’s just a drop, it’s fine. But is it really just a drop? I find I have to put an entire serving of barista blend (8 oz/130 calories/3g sugar) into my coffee to get it to stop tasting like black coffee and all of those calories and sugar would definitely put an end to a fast.

Check out youtube - there are people who have done at-home experiments doing bloodwork before and after drinking coffee with various whiteners. Since I use half & half, I watched the half & half video, and their bloodwork results indicated that a single serving of half & half (2 TB/40 calories) in their coffee did not seem to register an impact.

To truly know you would need a CGM to see if you get a response. There are scientific papers that show it only takes a gram of sugar to get an insulin response. That’s about the weight of a vitamin. So it really does come down to is that tiny drop really worth it. Personally i do a 10-4 window and drink a black coffee at 8am then my latte at 10. Its not the best but what do you want more?
