What would happen if I break my 3 day fast with horrible carbs like pancakes? Not planning on it, just curious.
It would cause a huge spike in your insulin and blood sugar. Part of the benefits you get from fasting are your body burning fat instead of glucose. Eating a lot of carbs would cause your body to switch back to storing fat and burning glucose.
I’ve done short, medium, long fasts and personally, nothing happened to me on the occasions I’ve done so. No weird BMs, headaches or drowsiness. On the contrary, I was full of energy afterward. I prefer eating keto right after but that’s just to stay in ketosis. I do gain a bunch but that’s water weight and inevitable. Of course, you may be more sensitive to insulin for all I know.
I had a month where I did a five day fast each week, I broke them like a complete asshole. Chicken skin and cupcakes Was how I broke it one week, I was totally fine. No tummy troubles no bad feelings. Everybody’s different. Not that chicken skin & cupcakes is a good choice, but for me it was fine.
