14/10 Fasting?

Hello, I am thinking of starting intermmittent fasting but I don’t like the 16/8 hour type, due to a small eating window and a large fasting window. Also I lift weights so I don’t want to fast for very long times. What is your experience on 14/10 fasting?

Answer

Good on you for trying. Generally 16:8 is what most people subscribe to but I think your approach is a good start.

I’d recommend starting with 12:12 and do that for 2 weeks. Then move up to 13:11 or 14:10. Give that a shot for a few more weeks. Then if you want try and increase your fasting time.I’ve lifted 6 days a week on 20:4 split for a few years now and love it.Let you body dictate what you do.

Only other things to note is hunger is often boredom or thirst so be aware of your fluid intake.

Best of luck!

Doesn’t Dr. Jason Fung say the average person is around a 15 hour eating window? As in 9 fasting, 15 eating. So 14 fasting, 10 eating is a significant improvement over that. Don’t be discouraged by “16:8 minimum” claims. Only eating in a 10 hour window will give you better insulin results than most people. If you find it easy, 16:8 is only a 2 hour try away.
