24hr 2-3 times a week?

Hey all,

Couldn’t find a post directly relating to this.

I’m considering doing 2-3 24hr fast a week (guess it could be ADF). To lose weight but also just to have more control over my relationship with food.

I’m wondering if anyone else has done this and had success without major exercise or fully changing the food they eat, I’m going to eat healthier but I don’t want to do keto, or low carb or calorie counting or anything like that again.

That would be OMAD 2-3x a week, you’d have to skip those days entirely (go 36ish+ hrs) for it to be ADF. Either way, depending on what you eat as part of your regular diet, it sounds like a great plan! Most people have quite a bit of success doing that; the key is to eat normally on your regular eating days (no ‘making up for it’ intake), and consistency over time. Good luck!

Look up the 5:2 diet, that’s pretty much what you’re proposing, and it’s fairly popular on YouTube.

Though for anything less than ADF, your diet can still significantly slow down your weight loss. So while you don’t need to go keto or count calories, you should try and eat healthier in general. Meaning less processed foods, less sweets, and more veggies in general. Take the time that you spend fasting to gradually improve your diet, that way you’ll effortlessly be able to maintain the weight loss afterwards. Also, aim for at least light exercise weekly, just to stay healthy.

I fast for three non consecutive days a week. Have been doing so since June of this year, and have lost about 30 pounds so far. Probably could have lost more by now but I still eat pretty much what ever I want on my eat days. Though I do need to clarify that my fasts usually last about 32 hours instead of 24. I go the entire day without eating. For example, I fast every week starting on Saturday evening. I do not eat again until Monday morning. My other fasting days are Tuesday and Thursday.
