IF was recommended to me because I struggle with binge eating. If I cal count I tend to feel restricted and it ends in binging. I’ve loved the freedom with 16/8 and haven’t binged once. I did think I’d be losing at a faster pace though. I’m losing around 1lb a week atm. I am wondering if I should do 18/6 or start cal counting incase I’m eating too much or too little. Or do I just need some patience?
You are losing weight, you are doing something right. 👍
It depends how much do you have to lose. Just a little bit? While change something just because it is going a little bit slowly and you are feeling good?
One pound per week is absolutely normal for 16:8
Do you really want to go back to calorie counting if it is working without? (I hate it, i am so happy that it is working without all the counting)
Therefore: my suggestion would be to try to shorten your eating window a bit, for example to 18:6 or less. It worked for me, I was less snacking and not as hungry. All without counting.
1lb per week is pretty good, especially if you are not calorie counting. Just stay with it and all the weight will come off. Imagine if you started this 1 year ago. Those 52 weeks will pass again, and this time next year you will be grateful you didn’t give up.
Sounds like you are on target, but if you want a little faster progress consider switching or throwing in some other fasting windows (18:6, 20:4, OMAD). You don’t need to do those everyday but maybe start with two days a weeks doing OMAD. Alternatively, you could try a 36h fast one day a week and see how that works. Good luck and don’t be afraid of going slowly, be afraid of standing still.
Depends if you aren’t going over your calorie amount in that time frame. You can get fat with IF. However, you are losing weight so obviously you are doing something right. 1lb a week is very normal. Losing 10 lbs or even 5 lbs a week is abnormal and sometimes can be bad.
Stick with it and you will not regret it
