Posting my stats, intending to do a 30 day water fast. This isn’t my first time fasting, but I haven’t gone this long before. While my previous fasts were 5-7 days in length, I lost around 5-7kg and regained it all the 1-2 days after eating. I regain 4-6kg the first day after eating after an extended fast. During one, I lose of about 1kg/day, sustained during the 7 days, minimal exercise. My goal weight for this fast is around 80kg, which I think will turn into 90kg after eating in 3-4 days. In terms of OMAD, it is really great for maintaining weight. I find the only thing that actually helps me lose weight is long term fasting. After looking at various studies and cross-referencing Dr. Jason Fung, the closest answer I could get to setting a new set point is by fasting sometime >14 days, which is my goal this time.
Intending to start the beginning of December to January. Will update.
Stats:
28yo, 6’0, 110kg
2 years IF 16:8, 1 year 20:4
4-7 days fast weekly x 4 months
OMAD daily x 6 months
GOOD LUCK! I’m on day 27 of an extended fast myself, and did a 32-day fast last year around this time as well. Your story is very familiar; I also find that OMAD and extended fasts are the only things that keep the weight off in my case, as well! I do keto OMAD when not fasting, with the exception of weekly treat meals that invariably include my problematic faves, RICE or FRENCH FRIES.
I plan to go straight through to the new year on my current fast, as I fell WAY off the wagon in the latter half of 2021. Won’t stop until my old pants fit, again.
IMO, I would try to figure out how to tweek things so that me refeed isn’t a 100% regain before I went longer. I’d be a bit pissed if I went a month and it all came back. Not too sure what your finer details are, but perhaps IF is a consideration if the time between fasts seems to be an issue.
Question…do you feel a bit lethargic or cloudy when you eat coming out of a fast, especially a multi-day?
