I want to maximise autophagy so I am thinking of doing 72 hr fasts every week starting friday morning up till monday morning.
This is what I’ve researched so far:
18-20 hrs:
Autophagy begins
Ketones released
36 hrs (1 ½ days)
48 hrs (2 days)
Cellular regeneration starts
Inflammation goes down
72 hrs (3 days)
From what I’ve heard, some people do like 3+ day fasts going up to 5 days or more. Are they only doing this for faster fat loss or is there some kind of benefits I don’t know yet?
After a fast some people eat and then get right back into a fast for the following days to come. Is this also just for fat loss.
When you break your fast I understand you have to eat light at first but do you have to eat your normal calories for that 1 day or should you eat a lot more because you fasted?
That is all, thanks.
Everyone’s different. Some people already did IF and Omad to hit their goal weights and are using 48-72(and up) to try and address the loose skin issue.
Me personally I’m doing 48s (more like 44-46s really) for fat loss and haven’t thought that far ahead about loose skin. At my lowest weight I don’t remember there being enough lose skin as those featured folks on YouTube who lost weight in the 3 digit range.
