Almond milk, is it really healthy?

I thought I’d switch away from cow’s milk and try almond milk.

Then was shocked to see on the label, in addition to water and almonds:

Is this list of ingredients healthy?

Am I over-reacting?

Hmmm usually manufactured milks are mostly water not really that nutritive per volume not to mention the “extra” additives and they’re expensive too

So I’d go for homemade milk, tastes better as it’s fresh, as nutritive as you want and zero additives and much cheaper also

Only downside is you have to make it yourself one or more times a day which might be a bit of a chore but totally worth It

I’d also recommend hemp milk it’s really the best tasting plant milk

I think the jury is still out on whether various thickeners have an effect on the gut biome. I would avoid commercial non-dairy milks. It’s not that hard to make almond milk or cashew milk with a blender.

Also, soy milk will have way more protein than any of the nut milks… if that matters to you.

Answer

“Healthy” is relative. You define what is healthy for you. I don’t drink cow milk due to intolerance but I also know that commercial almond milk is just not as good as homemade nut milk. But it’s also not detrimental. I think sometimes if you sweat the small stuff too much you’ll be overthinking.
