Any night shift nurses on here?

What does your eat/fast window look like?

I typically try to eat most of my calories before work (about 5p), and then eat at work between 11-12 so my eating window won’t start late the next day and throw off my schedule.

I’ll be upfront - I dirty fast at work. Water over 12 hours doesn’t cut it when the output is that high, so I drink a packet of Liquid IV in water. Plain coffee makes me nauseated, so I stick to the supplement.

Answer

Nightshift CNA here,

I eat dinner with the wife at anywhere between 6-7:30 just depends on the evening. And then I eat lunch typically around 12:30. But sometimes as late as 2. Work a locked behavioral unit, so lunch depends on the moon phase lol.

I drink my coffee starting at 9pm so it fits in the window. Coffee is more effective several hours after waking, and you really shouldn’t drink much for 4-5 hrs before bed. I’m sleeping WAY better having started fasting.

I do pretty well waiting until 6 the next day to eat. I sleep, wake up and have some plain tea or just water. Sometimes a bit of hunger but by dinner time I could almost take it or leave it.
